What if building an insurance product only took a few hours?
Earlier this year, Socotra hosted an Agentic Configuration Workshop for nine insurance leaders to explore exactly that question. Over the course of three hours, attendees used Socotra Agentic Configuration to build working insurance products complete with rating logic, underwriting rules, and operational workflows.
The workshop was a collaborative working session where participants built insurance products firsthand while exchanging implementation experiences with peers.
“It’s easy to talk about AI in the abstract. This workshop gave us a much clearer understanding of what AI can realistically accomplish. By the end of the session, we had built a working product ourselves, which made the technology feel far more concrete and accessible.”
— Solutions Engineer, U.K.-based P&C Insurer
By the end of the session, every participant had successfully built and deployed a functioning insurance product tailored to their own business context.

What Is Socotra Agentic Configuration?
Socotra Agentic Configuration accelerates product development by combining AI agents with Socotra’s industry-leading data model, which is both structured and flexible.
Agentic Configuration enables insurers to build:
Insurance product definitions
Integrations
Rating and underwriting logic
Tools
Documents
User interfaces
What makes this possible is the structure present in Socotra. Products, plugins, APIs, and workflows are well-defined and documented in detail. As a result, AI can build directly in Socotra and help teams move from business requirements to working implementations much faster.
“The workshop demonstrated that agentic configuration can accelerate real implementation work, not just prototyping. Being able to build and refine an insurance product with rating logic in a hands-on environment showcased how well Socotra is prepared for and fits in with an AI-enabled development environment.”
— Adam Bergendahl, CTO Insrt AB
Socotra Agentic Configuration is powered by Claude, which relies on Socotra’s extensive product documentation to generate accurate configurations. Beyond maintaining complete technical documentation, Socotra optimized its documentation for AI in 2026, reducing the tokens required to ingest the entire documentation site by roughly 70%. The result is faster context loading, more efficient reasoning, and higher-quality outputs when building insurance products. Curious how it works? A Hands-On Workshop for Technology and Business Leaders Alike
The workshop, led by Mat Seguin, Principal Solutions Consultant at Socotra, brought together technical leaders from across the insurance ecosystem, including engineering and product leaders from insurance carriers.
Rather than a scripted demo, participants spent the session actively building. Several attendees later noted that the workshop functioned as both a technical training session and a valuable industry user group.
“I appreciated that the workshop wasn’t simply a product demonstration. The Socotra team welcomed hard questions and thoughtful debate. That openness created a much more valuable conversation than a typical technology presentation.”
— Head of Engineering, Commercial Insurance MGA
The workshop began with peer discussion around AI adoption, implementation challenges, and operational workflows inside insurance organizations. From there, the group moved into a review of the Socotra platform and agentic AI concepts. Participants explored how AI agents interact with structured insurance configuration models, deployment pipelines, and implementation tooling.
“Many AI demonstrations focus on the output. This workshop spent time on the underlying architecture and implementation model, which made the discussion much more relevant for technical teams responsible for long-term platform decisions.”
— Director of Architecture, Global P&C Insurer
The second half of the workshop shifted into hands-on development. Using Socotra’s Agentic Configuration, attendees created product models, generated rating logic, added underwriting rules, and deployed their work into live tenants for testing and review.
For several participants, one of the most compelling aspects was the ability to start from requirements that already existed and build products relevant to their own organizations.
“I used one of our own filings to build a product configuration in Socotra Agentic Configuration in one hour. That kind of productivity gain is enormous.”
— Ekta Ranjan, SVP & Chief Operating Officer, Berkley Embedded Solutions
“I was surprised by how quickly Agentic Configuration could take an ambiguous set of requirements and quickly turn them into a product model. I could see how it would make the path to implementation from days to hours.”
— Jaime Ortiz Cirugeda, Head of Platform, Domestic & General
Every participant successfully built a working insurance product during the session. The result was not a uniform demo environment, but a series of individualized implementations.
From Manual Configuration to Accelerated Iteration
One of the strongest realizations throughout the workshop was deployment velocity. During the workshop, attendees saw examples of how AI-assisted workflows can compress common implementation timelines.
“Too often, product innovation gets constrained by the effort required to turn ideas into working software. Seeing a product come together in a matter of hours changed the way I think about that process.”
— Stewart Duncan, Chief Product Officer, Oka
Socotra has been leveraging AI to build minimum viable products (MVPs), which require testing before going into production. Our engineers have found the following productivity gains.
Building the Future Collaboratively
The workshop was also intentionally collaborative. Participants provided feedback throughout the session on implementation workflows, operational tooling, future use cases, and opportunities for continued innovation. That feedback loop is helping shape the evolution of the platform itself.
“What stood out to me was Socotra’s pragmatic approach to AI. The conversation wasn’t about committing to a single model or vendor. It was about how insurers can apply these technologies in ways that fit their own strategies and constraints.”
— Group Director, Enterprise Architecture and Applications, Commercial Insurance MGA
As the technology continues to mature, Socotra sees agentic configuration as part of a broader shift toward AI-assisted insurance operations. By automating manual implementation work, insurance teams can focus on product strategy, operational design, and customer outcomes.
“What I appreciated about the workshop was the opportunity to work directly with the technology rather than just hear about it. Building and testing a product firsthand provided a much better understanding of where agentic workflows can create value.”
— Director of Technology, U.S.-based P&C Carrier
Looking Ahead
The workshop demonstrated that AI-assisted insurance product development is no longer theoretical. In a single afternoon, experienced insurance technologists built, modified, and deployed functioning insurance products using agentic workflows integrated directly into the Socotra platform.
